As an AirBnB host, one of your common tasks is to meet with your guest to do a key exchange. Here at City CoPilot, we aim to make the entire key exchange process a little easier by providing you with a safe, secure location to meet with your guests. There’s no reason to meet in a random bar or restaurant and have to make plans around their schedule. Instead, you can arrange to have a key exchange at one of our three New York City storefronts at any time of the day or night. We cater to your schedule. Here’s how our AirBnB key exchange works:
How Our AirBnB Key Exchange Works for Hosts
If you are the AirBnB host, the process of setting up a key exchange with your guest couldn’t be simpler. After all, we want the process to be effortless so you can set up the key exchange with ease. This is what you need to know:
- First, you need to register for an account on our website.
- Leave a copy of your keys at one of our locations. We have locations in the Lower East Side, Times Square, and Brooklyn. All you have to do is select the location that is most convenient for you and your guest. Key exchanges are then accessible 24/7 with a reservation.
- You can purchase key credits with your account. You can buy as many or as little as you want. One key exchange equals one key drop off and guest pick up.
- Keep in mind that all key exchanges occur in-store. Guests can access keys before or after store hours via our lockbox access that we provide to customers.

How Our AirBnB Key Exchange Works for Guests
If you’re a guest who will be staying at an AirBnB and needs to pick-up keys, you have two options. You can get the keys at one of our locations during our normal business hours or you can access them via our lockboxes, which are accessible 24/7. A lockbox will need to be arranged ahead of time, so make sure to discuss this with your AirBnB host and choose the best date and time for you to get the keys.

Important Details to Remember
Lockbox: As mentioned, we do provide lockbox access to our customers. Your exclusive lockbox is only available to your guest on the night of the reservation. This means that if your guest does not arrive to pick-up their keys on the night of the reservation, the key will not be in the lockbox the following night. Please make sure that all lock box pick-ups are done promptly and on time.
Early Key Pick-ups: If your guest will be arriving before our store hours, for example, prior to 9:00 AM on a Friday, you will need to make the reservation for Thursday (the day before) so we can put your keys in the lockbox on Thursday night. This will ensure the keys are available for your guest the morning of pick-up before we arrive.
Emergency After-Hours Number: Here at City CoPilot, providing great customer service is part of our job. Taking care of our customers and making sure their needs are met is one of our top priorities, so we’re always here to help. So, if your guest arrives on the wrong evening after-hours, they won’t be able to access your keys. We have a minimum charge of $199 for after-hours in-person assistance. Please be very careful about which date you make a reservation for.
Why You Should Choose City CoPilot for your AirBnB Key Exchange
When it comes to making a key exchange, many hosts and their guests choose to meet in a random location, like a restaurant or bar. It isn’t exactly the most formal and you’re also relying on being able to meet during the operating hours of said business. It doesn’t exactly work out if you need to pick-up a key before business hours or after-hours.
Leaving a key with a trusted neighbor isn’t exactly the best solution either. It becomes a hassle depending on someone else to be available when your guest is available. Sure it may be safe and it’s likely free as well, but there are a lot of risks that come along with that. If your guest ends up being early or late, it can inconvenience your neighbor who is holding the keys. You never know when there may be an unexpected delay and you don’t want to worry about requiring your guest to get in touch with a neighbor who they don’t know.
Instead, choosing to leave your keys with an AirBnB key exchange is much more reliable and trustworthy. Here at City CoPilot, we will facilitate the key exchange for you. We provide you with a safe location for you to meet your guests in-person or you can choose to leave your keys with us for guests to pick-up later. Your guests can come in during our operating hours, where they will be greeted by our friendly staff members, or CoPilots as we call them! You also have the option to pick-up keys before or after our business hours, so the keys you need are available to your guests at their convenience. All you have to do is schedule it with us in advance. It really is that simple!
We’re all about making the AirBnB key exchange process easier for hosts and their guests. We think you should have a secure, professional set-up for your key exchanges and City CoPilot is the best solution for that. With three locations in New York City, we’re accessible to all the AirBnB guests and hosts in the area. Come in and see us at our Lower East Side, Times Square, and Brooklyn locations and be sure to drop off your keys for your next guest! They are sure to appreciate the convenience!
